Counselling and psychotherapy for Cherry Hinton and nearby areas of Cambridge

Welcome. I’m Dr. Sally Pears.

“You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.” – Jon Kabat-Zinn

Life is challenging – it’s not easy. My aim as a therapist is to help my clients increase their ability to cope with life’s challenges and to live vital and meaningful lives.

I believe we all have deep knowing within – about what we need, what we long for, what direction to take – but at times we lose contact with it. Therapy offers a space to slow down and listen. Within the therapy room, we explore the past where it feels relevant, bring clarity to the present, and begin to move toward a life that feels more rich, full and meaningful.

About My Approach

I do not believe that one type of therapy is the right fit for everyone. I, therefore, practice from an integrative therapy approach, which means that I incorporate various evidence based techniques from different schools of psychotherapy and adapt my therapeutic approach for each individual and their particular situation. However, my approach is primarily rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

I believe that what is unique about my approach is it is about much more than the problem of human suffering – it’s about reaching beyond suffering to the larger purpose of people’s lives and helping them get active in really living.

I offer confidential online counselling and psychotherapy sessions. My standard fee is £70 for a 50minute session. I offer brief (less than 20 sessions), and long-term (20+ sessions) therapy. I work with adults and young people (16yrs+) experiencing a range of difficulties, such as:

  • Anxiety and panic attacks

  • Depression and low mood

  • Loss of meaning and purpose

  • Relationship challenges (at home or at work)

  • Social anxiety

  • Disordered eating and eating disorders

  • Procrastination and perfectionism

  • Low self-esteem and lack of confidence

  • Exam stress

  • Body image issues

  • Postnatal depression

  • Self-harm

  • Life transitions and identity shifts

First Steps

The first step is to arrange an initial session, where we can talk about what’s brought you here and whether I might be the right therapist for you. It’s important that you feel comfortable and safe in our work together, and this first meeting is a good opportunity to get a sense of that.

Feel free to explore the About Me and About Therapy pages for more information. If you have any questions or would like to book a session, you can email me at sallypears@mail.com or text 07757 550 519.
